This project was completed as part of my Masters Degree in Informatics with a GIS concentration at Northeastern University. As a local to the Quabbin Reservoir region in Massachusetts which eliminated a number of towns, I though it would be interesting to conduct a study using more advanced GIS technology to determine the suitability for a ficticious new reservoir. A number of factors were analyzed to create new information including population density, elevation, calculated slope, and the movement of water in existing watersheds, to narrow down locations to one area of Massachusetts in the Northeast region. Three possible sites were selected based on the least impacts to population and protected species.
